Here's what you can generally expect throughout the year.
January - March
The winter season is characterized by lower water temperatures, which make sheepshead, trout, pompano, and redfish extremely active. The snook start migrating to warmer waters, while good Spanish mackerel fishing may be expected along the coast.
April - June
Spring is one of the best times of year to fish in Fort Myers.
Tarpon begin arriving in large numbers, snook become increasingly active, and redfish feed aggressively. Offshore anglers can also target grouper, snapper, and kingfish.
July - September
Summer offers incredible early morning action.
Mangrove snapper fishing is outstanding, tarpon remain plentiful, and anglers regularly catch snook, redfish, sharks, and jack crevalle.
Because of the afternoon heat and thunderstorms, morning trips often produce the best results.
October - December
Fall is another favorite season among local captains.
